The Doonbeg Area & West Clare, Co.Clare Ireland

Coastal walks in Ireland usually involve the climbing of fences, the crossing of small streams, muddy portions, a bit of rock climbing and grim looking bulls standing in your way. This walk here is no different but you're rewarded with splendid wild coastal scenery and the chance of observing rare sea birds as well as dolphins and seals. Start your walk from the car park at White Strand beach, Caherlean, Doonbeg - one of the best beaches in Clare and rightly rewarded with the Blue Flag.

Obviously there are not too many Forest Walks in West Clare! This one is a nice loop walk mostly on a quiet forest track and a short distance on a small country lane with nice views onto the West Clare Landscape. Woodcutting could be in progress on weekdays!

Easy loop walk for the whole family, part of the rather quiet Mid Clare Walkway. This track winds mostly through forest, beautiful views on Clare countryside in between

Another "Cahermurphy Walk", but this one is in the quiet area of Flagmount and Lough Graney in East Clare. The pleasant Walk starts at a nice recreation area at the lake with picnic areas and a little sandy beach and wanders through forestry and on minor roads uphill, joining the East Clare Way for a little while offering splendid views onto the lake and East Clare countryside..
